He stood and measured the earth; He looked and startled the nations. And the everlasting (ad) mountains were scattered, The perpetual (owlam) hills bowed. His ways are everlasting (owlam).
This verse gives a good example of the mistranslation of both ad and owlam because the context of the verse itself exposes this mistranslation. The 'everlasting' mountains were not everlasting because they became scattered and the perpetual hills were not perpetual because they became bowed down.
Of course, we know that God's ways are everlasting. However, in the context of this verse, as far as the mountains and hills were concerned, God's ways with them were for a period of time only. An accurate translation of the verse above is:
