1 It is doubtless not profitable for me to boast. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord: 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- 4 how he was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
Apostle Paul was caught up to the 'third heaven'. The third heaven here refers to a vision of the future dwelling place of God. Paul was undoubtedly given the vision of the New Heaven and the New Earth, the future dwelling place of God with men. The vision of the New Heaven and the New Earth was so wonderful and beautiful that Paul describes it as a Paradise. However, Paul was not permitted to give any more details of the words he heard or the things he saw.
The Bible has very little to say about God's purpose and plan beyond the Ages, after the creation of the New Heaven and the New Earth. However, there are a few things, which we can be sure of.
The New Earth with its New Heaven will be the headquarters of the universe as God the Father Himself will live here with men. Everything in the universe will be reconciled and at peace with God because of the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. All People are created in the image of God and we are called His Family. (Genesis 1:27, Ephesians 3:15) Our future in the Kingdom of God will be glorious beyond description.
