The Orthodox tradition of education goes back to its earliest days and has always been central and fundamental to the building of a Christian community. This is especially the case with the Greek Orthodox who have established, for example, Hellenic College and the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Theological School in Boston, Massachusetts. Saint Vladimir's Seminary in Westwood, New York, under the auspices of the Orthodox Church of America, is one of the most prestigious seminaries in the world. These institutions continue a long educational tradition of the Orthodox churches.
