The following comparisons are highlighted between Revelation 13 and Revelation 17, showing that the beast spoken about in both chapters, is the same beast. That beast in Revelation 13 is the papacy, and in Revelation 17, it is also the papacy, that includes depicting it being ridden by a whore woman. There are the same elements found in both chapters. In Revelation 17, it is describing in more detail about the same things. These additional details reveal that it is being seen at a later time than before. In Revelation 13: 1 - 10 it is describing the papal beast at the time before 1798, and in chapter 17 the papal beast is depicted at the time following 1798.
These are the similarities and common elements of this prophecy that demonstrate that the beast spoken of in these two chapters is identical. These two chapters demonstrate that they align very accurately with the chiastic pattern of the whole book of Revelation. The beasts shown in Revelation 13: 1-10 and 17 are thus demonstrated to be identical.
There are seven word phrases that also link Revelation 13 to Revelation 17;
Rev 13: 1. And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 17: 3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
