Existentialism

The famous existentialist philosopher, Jean Paul Sartre, based a lot of his arguments on a hypothetical moral dilemma. He proposed a situation in which a young man was torn between duty to his country and duty to his parents. Then he showed that Religion did not provide any answer to this dilemma. You could find strong reasons for both sides of the question and no way of convincingly answering it. Since religion has no answers, he rejected belief in God. [In logic, this is called a non sequitur or as we say nowadays, it does not compute.] The mature Christian will know that religion has no answers, God has the answers , and they are found in seeking him! Religion is just the dead letter of the law. Or it is a system of man made rules that promise salvation but can never deliver. It is a work of the flesh.
