Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
Psalms 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
The first half of the Book of Joshua contains an allegory of the end times. We are going to take a brief look at some of its features and point out some interesting details. It is one of those places in the bible where Israel and the Church are represented by different types which bring out different features.
Beginning in chapter 3 we see the people preparing to cross over the Jordan River and completing the crossing in chapter 4. This is made possible by the miraculous drying up of the waters. One of the meanings of Jordan is death. What we see here is God's people coming to the point of death to self, allowing them to enter into a new dimension of unity as the Lord's army.
Chapter 5 mentions the circumcision of the people and the appearance of The Lord as Captain of the Host. This speaks of cutting off of the flesh, and thereby coming to a place of being led by the Spirit. The arrival of the [angel of] the Lord is very significant. It relates to the last days outpouring of the Spirit also called the Latter Rain. When the King takes up his throne, the people can proclaim: Our God Reigns!
These features of chapters 4 and 5 are widely recognized as having to do with the transition into the end times. That is, Israel crossing the Jordan is a figure of the Church entering the end times. The Promised land, speaks of the Promise of the Father. We are going to concentrate on chapters 9 and 10 as they relate to natural Israel in the end times and the final battle of Armageddon, which is typified by Joshua's Big Battle.
